Old maps of Asia feature in this
section.
Asia is a massive and infinitely varied continent
which has presented cartographers with almost insuperable problems of
climate, terrain and access. Many areas have been shut off from
time-to-time from outside contact and that added to the difficulties.
There is a huge interest in maps of all parts of Asia and we have sold
maps to prospective authors of books, to people interested in the area
from which their ancestors came, even to philatelists specializing in
postal history.

Sizes are in millimetres. Where Unmounted
[unmatted] the size is of the sheet. If Mounted [matted] then
the size is of the mount containing the map. Colouring on maps
- before 1860 is likely to be hand colouring. After 1860 the
maps will wholly or partially hand coloured and usually
printed by lithography. Those are generalizations and we will
be happy to give fuller information about any item. |
