This group
of antique engravings is from Sir William Jardine's Mammalia of 1835.
This is a presentation of superb engravings by Daniel Lizars,
representing the work of the artist J. Stewart. They show many of the
wild ruminants known to man at that time. Where the old name differs
from the modern one we have shown both. The colouring on these
engravings is sympathetic, skilful and original. Each animal is set
against an uncoloured, engraved background that reflects its normal
habitat. Some have faint foxing that cannot be removed without altering
the original colouring but all of these masterworks would grace any wall
and are mounted to fit a standard 8"x10" frame.
